University of Amsterdam

The Psychology Department of the University of Amsterdam has a clear interest in intergroup relations. It has focused on processes leading to stereotyping, discrimination and prejudice. In addition, the department is specialized in group-based emotions (such as anger), that is emotions based on people’s group membership.

Finally, and most importantly for this SAFIRE-project, we have been working in the area of radicalization and terrorism. The University of Amsterdam (UvA) has been ranked as the top Dutch university according to the 2008 Times Higher Education Supplement (THES) QS World University Rankings Top 200. The UvA is ranked 53rd out of 200 of the best universities in the world
